Distributed ventilation with heat recovery and air filtration are also to be included in view of the poor air quality, for instance in New Delhi. Depending on the region, the heat exchanger function will be used for cooling as well. “In the long term, we also intend to market heat pumps for space heating in colder regions”, says Dr Matten.

The regional subsidiary will announce its official launch at the Acetech trade fair, together with one of the new partners, which ranks among the top 20 distributors in India and has an extensive network across the country.

Focus Money singles out “Germany’s most innovative businesses”

Stiebel Eltron, the German heating manufacturer, has now been awarded the “2017 Innovation Prize”. Posts on social media about the 5,000 German companies with the largest workforces were evaluated over a period from January to December 2016. The focus was on statements about the following five subjects: innovation, investment, research & development, new products and technology.

“Our goal is to develop sustainable solutions for our customers when it comes to heating, ventilation and air-conditioning. That’s why we are even more pleased that consumers are showing an appreciation for our endeavours”, says Dr Nicholas Matten, managing director for sales, marketing and finance. “We couldn’t have been given better feedback.”

The survey was conducted on behalf of Deutschland Test and Focus Money for the first time. After evaluating several million consumer reviews, businesses were classified according to sector in order to ensure a fair comparison. Those businesses in first place set the benchmark at 100 points. In addition to Stiebel Eltron in the sector for electrical appliances, brands such as BMW, Amazon, IKEA or Adidas set the benchmark in other sector rankings.

According to a study by the consultants PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers), the most innovative firms can on average anticipate over three times the growth in sales than less innovative competitors over the next five years.

Stiebel Eltron achieves record turnover in 2017

The heat technology producer Stiebel Eltron has reported the highest turnover in the company’s 93-year history: the internationally active German group of companies with headquarters in Holzminden, broke through the 500-million-euro mark for the first time. “This is a fantastic success of which we are very proud,” said managing director Dr Nicholas Matten. “Half a billion had become almost a magical threshold, which we have finally exceeded as we near the end of the year. I want to thank all our employees, who made it possible for us to celebrate today,” added Dr Kai Schiefelbein. The company’s former record turnover was 483 million euros in 2012, its second highest turnover was 478 million euros in 2016. The increase in the last twelve months is based on growth in all relevant business units: the renewable energy division with heat-pump heating systems and air-conditioning systems, and the water-heating division with instantaneous water heaters, small and floor-standing storage heaters. “What’s more, we experienced growth in both our home market in Germany and internationally,” said Dr Matten. The final balance of accounts for 2017 will be confirmed at the end of the first quarter of 2018.
